A 3D thin nets extraction method for medical imaging

چکیده
This paper presents a powerful tool designed to extract characteristic lines, called 3D thin nets, from 3D volumetric images. 3D thin nets are the lines where the 3D grey level function is locally extremum in a given plane. Recently, we have shown that it is possible to characterize 2D thin nets as the crest lines of the image surface. This paper generalizes this approach to 3D data having three principal curvatures of the hypersurface deened by the 3D volumetric image. Using diierential properties of image hypersurface, we explain that 3D thin nets can be extracted by intersecting of two surfaces, one corresponding to the maximization of maximum curvature in its associated direction, and the other one to the maximization of medium curvature in its associated direction. We apply this approach to the extraction of blood vessels in 3D medical images.

Thin network extraction in 3D images: application to medical angiograms
Thin network extraction from three dimensional images is a new issue in computer vision. It is of major importance in medical vascular imaging for diagnostic, therapy planning and surgery. In this paper, we develop a framework for automatic thin network extraction from the volumic image. The approach consists in treating the 3D image as a hyper-surface of IR 4 . It is shown that the crest point...

Thin nets are the lines where the grey level function is locally extremum in a given direction. Recently, we have shown that it is possible to characterize the thin nets using diierential properties of the image surface. However, the method failed when these structures present diierent widths. In this paper we show that, the extraction process of the thin nets, having diierent width, requires a...

Introduction: Radiation imaging is one of the applicable methods in diagnostic medicine and nondestructive testing for industrial applications. In nondestructive 3D imaging, in addition to the radiation source, there is a requirement for a suitable detection system, data acquisition system, mechanical sections for moving objects, reconstruction algorithm and finally a computer for processing an...

Objective(s): To investigate and compare quantitative accuracy of kidney absorbed dose measures made from both 2D and 3D imaging in patients receiving 177LuDOTATATE (Lutate) for treatment of neuroendocrine tumours (NETs). Methods: Patients receiving Lutate therapy underwent both whole body planar imaging and SPECT/CT imaging over the kidneys at time points 0.5, 4, 24, and 96-120 hours after inj...

Introduction: Neuromyelitis Optica (NMO) is a rare inflammatory disease of the central nervous system which generally affecting the spinal cord and optic nerve. Damage to the optic nerve can result in the patient's dim vision or even blindness, while the spinal cord damage may lead to sensory and motor paralysis and the weakness of the lower limbs in the patient. Magnetic Reson...
